IRS Tax Audit Representation & Appeals. Get An Upper Hand On The IRS

If you are being audited by the IRS, by the IRS, one of the most important pieces of advice we can offer is to NOT allow an auditor into your home and possibly not your place of business. Auditors are trained to gather information about your lifestyle, standard of living, and other information not necessarily related to your tax return. Allowing them to survey your property and profile you can increase the scope of your tax audit.

Secondly, we strongly recommend that you contact us prior to speaking to or meeting with your auditor.

Thorough preparation before your audit appointment is extremely important. We conduct an exhaustive and private review of your financial records in our office (before the scheduled audit date) to uncover any potential problem areas where your documentation is not adequate to pass an auditor’s scrutiny. Additionally, we manage all correspondence and meet with the IRS on your behalf; this puts them on notice that you are serious about defending your tax return.

If you have already been audited and disagree with the proposed changes, do not sign the audit examination report. The IRS will provide you 30 days to file an Appeal to contest the results of the audit. This process is done with the Appeals Division. An Appeal is very technical and takes the form of a legal brief. We provide years of experience in appeals work and can assist you in this process. Timely filing your Appeal is a requirement for an appeal.

If the 30-day Right to Appeal has expired, the IRS will send you a Notice of Deficiency. If you disagree with the changes made, you will have 90 days to respond to the notice by filing a tax court petition to dispute your tax debt. We can assist you in filing this petition.

We will fight to limit the duration of your tax audit, as well as the scope of the audit, and provide you with the best in tax resolution services and IRS tax audit help on the market.
